Since its inception in 2017, the internship has offered students invaluable exposure to police and prison administration, along with opportunities to work on critical research and modernization projects.

Internship Plans
BPR&D offers two types of internships:
- One-Month Internship (30 days) – A minimum of 22 working days required.
- Two-Month Internship (60 days) – A minimum of 44 working days required.
Both plans provide structured learning with introductory sessions, task assignments, field visits, and valedictory ceremonies.
Eligibility Criteria
Students pursuing postgraduate, M.Phil., or Ph.D. degrees in relevant fields such as Criminology, Sociology, Social Work, Human Rights, Management, Law, Psychology, Public Administration, Cyber Security, and related disciplines are eligible. Applications must be forwarded through the Head of Department of the respective universities.
Key Highlights
- Field Visits: Interns will visit police stations, correctional homes, and juvenile homes to gain firsthand experience.
- Comprehensive Training: Interns will be attached to different BPR&D divisions, depending on their interest and background.
- Stipend: Selected interns will receive a stipend of ₹8,000 per month. Outstation candidates will be reimbursed for sleeper class train travel.
